I love learning, I love to study and I do it every day but that’s not my secret. My secret is that I never went to University, in fact I didn’t even get past year 10 and it has mattered naught in my career (except maybe in my own head every now and then). My secret is that I love learning and spend money on my education in some really cool ways.
I did my school certificate which is the year 10 certificate in 1987 and went on to the Metropolitan Business College to do a business diploma in 1988. That was the start of my business career other than working at Maccas since the day I turned 14 and 9 months. I went on to create a couple of really cool business, my first a property investment business where I purchased 15 residential properties in NSW, Victoria & Tassie all in a twoish year period. You can read more about me here.
So, why am I telling you this? Because, I have been successful in business in spite of not having a university education and I have not stopped studying since the day I left school. I have spent a small fortune on my education which has paid me back in spades.
Now that I am in the online slash internet marketing field and have been solidly for about the last 4 years I have to study every single day. The rate of change online is rapid and sometimes can be hard to keep up. I am currently putting together my own Social Media training course that I am nearly ready to launch and will be really excited to tell you about
soon on Monday in the online training I have put together. If you haven’t yet registered for the online event you can do that just down there.
Plus, other than my own training that I would love you to check out when it’s ready, there is a really cool place I have been buying courses from. Some of the courses are great, some not so great but they are affordable. This is just one place I go to learn but is worthwhile checking out.
Just a note if you check it out and decide to buy any course, I may receive a small referral fee (just keeping it transparent). Either way, I wouldn’t recommend it as something to look at if I hadn’t bought courses myself from there. It’s worth reading the feedback on each of the courses when you are making a decision. That’s how I decide.
So, keep learning and don’t feel like you are ever stuck in something you hate doing (for work) because you are not. There are plenty of places to learn things so that you can change your career without having to spend a stack of money on a university degree. Don’t get me wrong, I have spent more than a university degree over the years but it has been over 20 years and in areas that I love learning about and have a passion in. I also love learning from people who have actually done the work on the ground and know whether something works or not. I’m not really interested in learning from a lecturer who has been teaching other people stuff out of books but not put things into practice.
Like all my posts, I’d love to hear what you think of UDEMY and I’d doubly love you to jump in and register for my webinar! Let me know you’ve been by leaving a comment and if you have a blog that you would like to share with me, I’d love to read it.
Here’s to your amazing future.
