With so much information out there in the world wide web it is really easy to get “STUCK” in info overload and not take action when we really need to. There are lists, infographics, tips-sheets, how-to’s and more info than we will ever get the time to actually look at.
I have found that I can read an article or blog with some really cool ideas and tips and because I want to have a look at every link that is in the post or article, I end up with a screen full of open tabs (to look at later) that I never actually get to look at in depth! Sometimes I’ll bookmark them (to never go back to) and sometimes I’ll have the tab open for days until I finally click the little cross button that tells my browser “sorry, but it’s just not gonna happen”.
Every now and then however I do actually come across things that make a difference to me. These are things that I use if not every day then all the time and I get to implement actions and be productive with them. Here in my image below I share my top 4 current “Can’t Live Withouts”.
Number 1 is Fiverr. If you haven’t already been there it is a really cool website where you can buy goods and services from people for five bucks. It was originally created by someone who posed the question “What would you do for $5”? (does the question mark come before or after the dit dits? Anyhow, check it out, it’s awesome. I generally use it to find people to help me with slider images, logo design AND I’ve even used it to get a palm reading once (which was fun but totally crap by the way).
Number 2 is Canva. I currently Love Love Love this site. It is chock full of templates to create images for everything you could possibly want to create images for!!!! What even excites me more about this site is it was created by some Aussies in WA. Go and check out the site, have a play and read their story on the about us page. I used Canva to create the image above and also use it to change out mine and my clients Facebook images much more often than having to pay and hire a graphic designer.
Number 3 is my favourite!! My networks made up of like minded business people who have become my friends. I meet some amazing people who inspire me every day. When you work for yourself it is often a very lonely place so it is really important that you schedule in time to network and meet like minded people. Lou who is the person on the left in this picture (I’m on the right) who is one of my dearest friends and it was through a business group that I met her about 8 years ago. I have an amazing story to tell you about her and I will at another time! We actually even had the same rare cancer 2 years ago being diagnosed just 12 months apart from each other. Lou and I are able to call each other and throw around ideas that help us in our individual businesses. Lou is in a completely different industry/niche to me which is really cool because we can give each other ideas from a different perspective. We also make sure we book ourselves into conferences in different parts of the country and have a stack of fun learning together and meeting new people. I have lots of other people too who I meet up and swap ideas with. Most of the people who I have really connected with live on all 4 corners of Australia and definitely not in my town so Skype comes in really handy.
If you don’t already have anyone in your world that you can bounce your crazy ideas off check out meetup.com or your local chamber or commerce is another great place to start. Another thing you can do is book yourself into conferences or industry courses where you will always find people to get to know. Most of the time when I go to a conference or a workshop it is the other people I meet there who give me the greatest value from going.
You can also be of a huge amount of service to others with the stuff that is in your head so go and get to know people online through forums or Facebook groups and see if there are any questions you can give answers to that may help others out. I’ve made many great friends in my network this way.
Number 4 is You-Tube, which may seem like a no brainer but there are still many people who I come across who don’t use it. I really do use it every day. Whether I want to learn something or share some of my knowledge it is an abundant place online where you can learn anything! It’s free to set up your own channel and it’s easy to use. If there is anything you ever want to know about anything type it into the search bar in youtube and presto you’ll get an answer. I lurve it 🙂
If you’ve made it this far through the post thanks a stack for reading and I hope I have given you something of value that you can go and use! Just quietly I’m sure the Canva this will make your day 🙂
